Robin Crispin William Odey

The FCA has given Mr Robin Crispin William Odey a Decision Notice which sets out that the FCA has decided to prohibit him from performing any function in relation to any regulated activities carried on by any authorised person, exempt person or exempt professional firm, and impose a fine of £1,835,200.        Mr Odey has referred the Decision Notice to the Upper Tribunal. Any findings in the Decision Notice are therefore provisional and reflect the FCA’s belief as to what occurred and how it considers the behaviour of Mr Odey should be characterised. The above proposed action will have no effect pending the determination of the case by the Tribunal. The Tribunal’s decision will be made public on its website.        The Decision Notice comes as a result of the FCA deciding that Mr Odey breached Individual Conduct Rule 1 by engaging in conduct which demonstrated a clear lack of integrity. In the period from December 2021 to November 2022, Mr Odey engaged in conduct that was deliberately designed to frustrate Odey Asset Management's (OAM) ongoing disciplinary process into his conduct, in order to protect his own interests. He also showed a reckless disregard for OAM's governance and caused OAM to breach certain regulatory requirements.
